2020 Monthly Color Challenge

Welcome to 2020!

Today begins Jen's new challenge! I finished up my 2019 Monthly Color Challenge in December, but it is yet to be quilted. Click here to see my flimsy.

This years inspirational theme is birds. I love learning new facts, so I'm excited to research birdies along the way. Speaking of... January is a Finch.

When I first saw the color was yellow I expected a canary. Yet in reading about finches, I found out canary is a type of a finch. Who knew?

For those who might question if you're talented enough for Jen's challenge, her in step-by-step instructions make it easy to follow. She also provides detailed diagrams for those who are visual learners.

When I made January's block I was in the middle of another project using gray thread. It was a mistake to not take extra time and change it out. Hopefully once I finish the quilt it won't be noticeable.

I was really happy with my scrap fabric finds. The yellow plaid squares were already cut. They are leftovers from a quilt my grandmother made. I think the four patches mimicked the plaid. If it wasn't for the thread, I would be really happy with my block!

Just a tip: Even if it will take an extra 10 minutes or so to make a project and the thread is a little dark, take the time to change it out. You'll be glad you did!
