40 years.

I have officially entered year 40 of my life. When I was adding important dates to my planner last December, I made the note on September 11th, "Celebrate the day, even though you won't feel like it." My parents took me out to dinner on the 11th. For a moment in time, my mind was refocused. I don't think I accomplished my first goal of 40 though!
This is what 40 looks like. Fine lines aroud my eyes are appearing. A few gray hairs magically appeared in my eyebrows. And, I need to color my hair again as my roots are showing off the fact I have more gray hair in my hairline than my natural brown. My body is feeling older but that is from old injures that are acting up from overuse. My young cousins called me old. Which at age 16, 20, and 22 seems old. My little niece informed me that 40 is a lot of numbers. Then again she is just learning to count to 15. I don't feel like 40 is old. It's the beginning of a new decade with new dreams and renewed dreams. I wrote them down and wonder how much of it will be accomplised in ten years. Fifty seems a long ways off but I know time will fly by.
So here is to 40, and the dreams I dream with the knowledge that God has a plan that far exceedes mine.
