2025 August Quilt Block Mania

2025 Quilt Block Mania (QBM) is full of themed photo, color inspired, traditional quilt blocks! I had so much fun designing this quilt based on photos from my phone. All the fabrics are from Charisma Horton's Live Boldly Collection by Timeless Treasures.
This month's block holds a special place...home. I grew up on a farm and we raised Hereford beef cattle. Even now when I'm out in the country, I notice Hereford cattle grazing in a field. I take note of how the fields are growing - if the crops are coming up early or late, if the ground is too dry or if there's been too much rain, if the hay fields have been freshly cut or if they are ready to be cut. The smell of cut hay or (yes, really) cow manure is refreshing. Even though my hands are no longer callused from working on the farm, I could jump right back into farm life even now and it would be my happy place. There really is no better place to grow up than in the country on a farm. If every kid had a chance at farm life, I believe this world would be a better place.
I choose to use the traditional Green Mountain quilt block. Not because I grew up in the mountains, but because my roots are deeply seeded in the mountains of Tennessee. It's where farming for my family began nearly 200 years ago. A relatively small piece of the original farm still remains in my family. My niece with be the 18th generation to grow up on the homestead.
The fabric for this block is from Timeless Treasures. Charisma Horton designed the fabric collection, "Live Boldly." The colors in the block are Green, Beige, and Red.
