Last year Quilt Block Mania was really fun with the blocks representing a photograph linked to the theme. To be honest, it is one of my favorite quilts. I use it frequently. It makes me happy because each block is stitched with a precious memory. You can now purchase the entire pattern here as a PDF. It will be available shortly in a spiral bound printed edition.
If you're new to my Quilt Block Mania projects, I tend to have an in the background theme. A couple years my blocks were all Sunbonnet Sue. In 2025, they were traditional blocks, traditionally pieced. In 2026, there will be a few applique blocks in the mix but still sticking with traditional blocks. I wish I could show you the end result in January! You can keep up with all the generic information here.
For those interested in making the 2026 quilt, I have three different fabric line recommendations. You can read about those here. This quilt would also look good with your scrap bin and a background fabric. For the background fabric, you will need 3 yards. This year I am using a dark background. Did you know the neutral color doesn't have to be white? One definition of neutral is "having no strongly marked or positive characteristics or features." Think solids or tone-on-tone fabrics. The neutral can virtually be any color. It provides a soft place for your eyes to rest and enhances the overall design.
With all of that out of the way, January's theme is "SNOW!" We had frigid temps in December, but now it's feeling more like March with rain in this part of the country. Yuck! So here my January snow themed block is in all of it's glory! I have all three fabric suggestions pictured.

I'd love to see your Snowflake block. You can send a picture of your block to me at sarah@quilted-diary.com. I'll feature them next month.
Like last year, If you have already subscribed to my mailing list, you will be getting the pattern sent directly to you. If you would like this month's block and have not subscribed yet, you can here. I have to manually send out the emails, so if you don't get it right away, I promise you will!
I hope you have a great January and start to this years quilting journey. Don't forget to stop by and check out the other designers quilt blocks.
