2021 Monthly Color Challenge

I've not made all of the blocks this year but I have been following along in the Facebook group. All of the fruit and veggie blocks are adorable! I had a super cute idea of how to finish the quilt using six inch blocks...yet that seems as it will just remain an idea.

Onto this month's block: Cherries! One reason I always enjoy the color challenge is I get to raid my scrap boxes. I'm not typically a scrappy quilter so I tend to gather a lot. I must say #QuiltBlockMania has helped thin my boxes too.

I found a couple strips that fit the red description but they weren't long enough. Simple fix though. I read through the entire pattern like a good quilter should (**Reminder to self). For assembly, the strip units are sub-cut into squares. Rather than making one long unit and then sub-cutting, I made a bunch of short strip units. In all honesty, it would have been much easier to follow the directions! It's okay though, in the end it worked out just fine.

I got so busy with making this block, I forgot to take pictures along the way! Oops! The fabric is from Connecting Threads. Click here to be directed to the Chambray Tonal collection. I used the colors "Tomato" and "Red." (A quick note, if you decide to purchase these fabrics through my link, I may be compensated. I do love their fabric!)

Check out the other blogger's take on April's Monthly Color Challenge! As always, get the pattern from Patterns by Jen. (https://patternsbyjen.blogspot.com) For more pictures join the Facebook group!
