One year.
One year ago today I was taking care of my aunt, who had just had a complicated surgery, and her family. It was time to start cooking dinner, somewhere around 3pm. It was already a difficult day as I was feeling emotions of the day to follow - the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in America. My aunt had been scrolling on Facebook when I heard her say, Charlie Kirk has been shot. It was a no-way type moment. No one knew how bad or where exactly. It was a breaking news moment of chaos. At the time they were showing video from a distance of the exact moment. You could see his body jerk back and then slump down. And that was it. Over and over again they played and analyzed it. The commentators were hopeful but I think we all knew the outcome wasn't positive. The thought going through my mind was, he's gone. Charlie Kirk was just assassinated. Murdered. In front of a thousand people. Killed. Life stolen away in a moment.
Keep busy. Don't think. Pray.
Breaking news: Charlie Kirk has been shot.

Keep busy. Don't think. Pray.
My heart was breaking for Erika and their children. My heart was breaking for his parents and sister. My heart was breaking for a generation whose lives and eternal souls were being changed for the greater. My heart was breaking for my young niece who couldn't wait to be a freshman to start a Turning Point chapter in her high school. It was her dream to do that. She listened to him every day.
Keep busy. Don't think. Pray.
Clean the house. The bathrooms always need cleaned again. The floor always needs mopped again. There are always dishes to be washed. If I don't stop, I won't breakdown in tears. I knew if they started, they wouldn't stop.
It was finally bedtime. I could cry. I did in the darkness and wept silent tears.
Charlie wanted to be remembered for his courage and faith. He shared the gospel to millions of people, in life and even through his death.
Today has been a day of rememberence and tears. I'll leave you with this. It's the message Charlie Kirk wanted everyone to hear above all. There is a God. He is real. He created you and me. We are sinners on the way to eternal seperation from the Good and Divine. And yet, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us that we may be united with God in Heaven forever. Jesus paid the price of our sin on the cross two thousand years ago. And if we accept Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.
